The Adamawa State leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the general public to disregard the fake news circulating on social media claiming that the state CAN Chairman was beheaded.
In a statement issued Saturday titled  “I Am Safe and Alive”, the Christian umbrella body described the news as fake and baseless, adding that the authors are agents of the underworld who are out to smear the image of the government, thereby causing confusion in the already fragile atmosphere in the country.
The reaction of the CAN followed a post on a Facebook page originated by one Lionman Lioni, claiming that the Adamawa State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Joel Danjuma Manzo, has been beheaded by Fulani terrorists in the State.

The Adamawa State leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) wish to draw attention of the public to disregard the fake news circulating on the social media claiming that the state CAN Chairman was beheaded.
The leadership of the Christian body in the state described such fake and baseless sources on social media as agents of the underworld who are out to smear the image of the government, and the security agencies, thereby causing confusion in the already fragile atmosphere in the country.
The general public should therefore disregard such fake information thus, the state CAN Chairman is in good health and busy going about his official engagement in the state without any threat fear or intimidation.
The state CAN is equally calling on the security agencies in the state to launch an investigation and apprehend the agent of the fake news who’s action is not only dangerous to the security, unity and peace of the state and nation at large but, tantamount to an affront to the efforts of Adamawa State Government aimed at engendering enduring peace, unity and securing lives and properties of citizens of the state.
The State CAN equally wish to appreciate the Adamawa State Police Command for issuing a statement in that regard and calling for a detailed investigation into the matter and allow the law to take its full course.
