…Assures Govt’s Readiness To Sustain Support
Governor Usman Ododo has visited victims of the tragic road accident that occurred along the Lokoja–Okene highway, which claimed six lives and left several others injured.
The Kogi State Governor also paid a solemn condolence visit to the bereaved families, expressing deep sorrow over the heartbreaking incident that cut short the lives of citizens who were returning from the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities commemoration earlier hosted at the Government House, Lokoja.
Describing the development as one of the most painful moments for the state in recent times, Ododo noted that the deceased were patriotic and hopeful citizens who had gathered to celebrate inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities. He said their untimely passing represents a profound loss not only to their families but to Kogi State as a whole.
In an atmosphere filled with emotion, the Governor met privately with the bereaved relatives, offering prayers, consolation, and firm assurances that the state government would stand with them through the trying period. He reaffirmed that government support would be sustained until every necessary need of the affected families is met.
At the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja, Governor Ododo personally interacted with the injured victims, encouraging them to remain strong while assuring them of uninterrupted medical care. He directed the Ministry of Health and relevant emergency agencies to ensure that all victims receive comprehensive treatment, welfare support, and psychosocial care until they have fully recovered. The Governor visited patients at the Shiffa Hospital in the state capital.
He also urged Kogites to unite in prayer for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of those still battling to recover.
“Kogi State Government once again extends its deepest condolences to the affected families and reassures them that they’re not alone in this moment of grief, as the government remains fully committed to easing their pain and ensuring justice, care, and support.” Ododo added.
