President Bola Tinubu has nominated the late Senator Adamu Talba, a deceased lawmaker, as an ambassador five months after his passing.
Mr. Talba was on the list of ambassadorial nominees sent to the Senate by Mr. Tinubu on Thursday.
In the correspondence, Mr Tinubu called for accelerated consideration to enable the federal government to fill critical foreign diplomatic positions.
The letter conveying the request was read on the floor of the Senate on Thursday by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
Following the announcement, Mr Akpabio referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, directing the panel to screen the nominees and submit its report within one week.
The late lawmaker who hailed from Yobe State died at the National Hospital Abuja on July 14, 2025, after a brief illness at 73.
