The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Rev. Father Stephen Dami Mamza has appealed to the Federal Government to improve facilities and infrastructure at the Jimeta Correctional Centre, in Yola North local government area of Adamawa State.

The Bishop made the plea while presenting a live cow and other items to inmates at the Correctional Centre, saying it will make life easy for the inmates as some of them are innocent and need to be treated decently.
He stated the donation will enable the inmates to celebrate Christmas and New Year, which will give them a sense of belonging.
While wishing them a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year, Bishop Mamza called on the government to improve facilities and infrastructure at the correctional centre to make life easy for the inmates.
Receiving the items, the Acting in charge of the Correctional Centre, Mr Benjamin R. Dalti, thanked the Bishop for the donation, assured of fair sharing to all inmates.
He thanked the Federal Government for supporting the Correctional Centre; however, he appealed for the speedy trial of those awaiting trials, so as to decongest the Centre.
He said facilities at the Centre are overstretched due to the overpopulation of those in custody.
