The lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Nwoko, has unveiled a free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration initiative for 1,500 students from the district, aimed at enhancing access to tertiary education.
The announcement follows the nationwide commencement of the 2026 UTME registration exercise by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
In a statement posted on Wednesday to his official social media pages, Senator Nwoko emphasised his commitment to education as a vital driver of sustainable development.
He said the programme reflects his belief that “education is the foundation upon which lasting development is built” and that “no qualified student should be denied access to higher education due to financial constraints.”
The free registration scheme will benefit eligible candidates from across the district’s nine local government areas, including Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani in Delta State.
Senator Nwoko outlined the conditions for participation, stating: “Eligible applicants must be 16 years or older by 30th September 2026 and must generate their JAMB profile code using their National Identification Number. Required details include the applicant’s full name, JAMB profile code and council ward for proper documentation and verification.”
He further informed that “the deadline for this registration is Sunday, 15th February 2026,” and directed interested candidates to complete the process via the official portal.
Reaffirming his drive for youth empowerment and educational inclusion, Senator Nwoko added that he remains “resolute in advancing policies and programmes that expand access to education, empower our youths, and strengthen the social and economic future of Delta North.”
The announcement coincides with the formal opening of the 2026 UTME registration by JAMB.
The Board confirmed that registration for UTME candidates, including those from foreign countries, runs from Monday, 26th January to Saturday, 28th February 2026. Sales of e-PINs began earlier, on 19th January, and will end on 26th February 2026.
For candidates seeking Direct Entry (DE) admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, JAMB has stated that the sale of application documents and e-PIN vending will start Monday, 2nd March and close by Saturday, 25th April 2026. Registration for DE applicants is being conducted exclusively at JAMB’s zonal and state offices.
JAMB has also outlined three categories of e-PINs for the 2026 exercise: Direct Entry at ₦5,700; UTME only without mock at ₦7,200; and UTME with mock at ₦8,700.
These fees cover application charges, prescribed reading texts, CBT registration and service costs, bank charges and, where applicable, mock examination fees.
