The Movement for Credible Elections (MCE), a coalition of leaders of the organised civil society and labour movement, has announced plans to escalate its ongoing protests on electoral reforms with a strategic world media interaction at the National Assembly on Tuesday

The coalition, in a statement on Monday signed by its media coordinator, Comrade James Ezema, said the action is aimed at intensifying civic pressure on the legislature to adopt comprehensive popular electoral reforms as demanded by Nigerians and outlined in MCE’s public petition submitted to the National Assembly last month.

He emphasised that credible elections remain fundamental to strengthening democracy, promoting political accountability and restoring public confidence in governance. He added that MCE and its partners will sustain nationwide mass mobilisation until meaningful electoral reforms are achieved.

MCE also formally invites all media organisations to cover the protest at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, noting that media coverage is essential in promoting transparency and amplifying citizens’ voices.

Expected to address the media rally are Dr. Usman Bugaje, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, Dr Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, Professor Pat Utomi, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Barr Femi Falana, SAN, Prince Adewole Adebayo, Comrade Joe Ajaero, Sen Shehu Sanni, Hadjia Bilikisu Magoro, Comrade Ene Obi, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, Prof Chidi Odinkalu, Comrade Promise Adewusi, Engr Bala Zakka, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Dr Sam Amadi, Comrade Malachy Ugwummadu, Peter Randy Akah, among other leaders
