NewsNigeriaPDP Chair Charges Christians, Muslims On Tolerance At Lent, Ramadan

Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has charged Christians and Muslims on tolerance at Lent and Ramadan.

Turaki in Ramadan and Lent goodwill message to Nigerians, on Thursday, noted that Ramadan and Lent remain periods of deep spiritual significance, reminding us of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, humility, discipline, and total submission to the will of God.

The message reads, “As Muslims in Nigeria and across the world commence the sacred month of Ramadan, I give thanks to Almighty Allah for the grace of life and the opportunity to once again witness this spiritually uplifting period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and self-purification.

“I also note with deep appreciation that this year’s Ramadan coincides with the commencement of the Christian Lenten season, a solemn period of fasting, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal for our Christian brethren. This rare convergence underscores our shared values of faith, discipline, self-denial, compassion, and devotion to God, and reminds us of the common moral foundation that binds us together as one people.

“On behalf of the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to Muslim faithful and Christian brothers and sisters across our dear country as they observe these sacred seasons. Ramadan and Lent remain periods of deep spiritual significance, reminding us of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, humility, discipline, and total submission to God’s will.

“These holy seasons provide unique opportunities for personal and collective renewal. They call on us to strengthen our faith, deepen our compassion, and recommit ourselves to righteousness, humility, and service to humanity. As exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), obedience to God nurtures love, reverence, and moral uprightness values that are indispensable for peaceful coexistence and national harmony.

“As we fast and pray, I urge Nigerians to embrace the spirit of brotherhood, tolerance, and mutual respect. We must shun all forms of divisive tendencies, promote peace, and work together to build a nation anchored on justice, equity, and good neighbourliness.

“I also call on Nigerians to use this sacred period to pray fervently for our country, pray for peace, unity, credible leadership, and the security of lives and property. May our collective supplications pave the way for national stability, democratic consolidation, and sustainable development.

“Once again, I wish all Muslim faithful a spiritually rewarding Ramadan and our Christian brethren a solemn and fruitful Lenten season. May Allah accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds, grant us good health and long life, and guide us right in all our undertakings.”
