Due to poverty and vulnerability of some categories of people in the society, especially orphans, the National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Nigeria, Sheikh Imam Abdullahi Bala Lau, has made a case for wealthy individuals in the country to assist the orphans in whatever form for them feel a sense of belonging in the society.

Sheikh Lau, while speaking with newsmen Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, after flagging off a donation to assist orphans at Doubeli Jumma’at Mosque, a  Jimeta, Yola North LGA, explained that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said orphans deserve special care.

“It is not the intention of orphans to lose their parents; they need to be assisted,” he said.
Sheikh Lau expressed satisfaction with the activities of the JIBWIS Orphans’ Care Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Bashir Imam Aliyu Hong, for executing the tasks assigned to them.
The Islamic scholar then called on the Muslim Ummah to continue praying for peace to reign in the country, enabling leaders to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
Earlier, during the annual Ramadan Tafsir at Doubeli Jumma’at Mosque, Jimeta, Sheikh Bala Lau explained that crimes could be reduced to a minimum if youths were engaged in memorizing the Glorious Qur’an.
He said Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Nigeria has so far established 9 Qur’anic memorization centres across the country, and over 2,000 reciters have graduated from them.
JIBWIS National Chairman added that more Qur’anic Centres will be established in each state of the federation, pointing out that those who memorize verses of the Holy Qur’an will not be found among those committing crimes in society.
Sheikh Bala Lau also spoke extensively about the importance of night prayers and their benefits, enjoining Muslims to maintain the habit of performing night prayers consistently.
