To nip in a bud, rumours of a planned protest in Plateau State in the wake of war between US-Israel and Iran, the Plateau state Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah has met with leaders of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria at the Command Headquarters in Jos.
The meeting followed a voice note circulating on social media that violent protests would erupt in the city today Friday, March 6, 2026.
Ewah reassured residents that the command had taken proactive steps to maintain law and order across the state.
“Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have deployed joint patrol teams to strategic locations within the Jos city centre. A show of force was also conducted to boost public confidence and deter any potential security threats.
“Intelligence gathering and surveillance operations have been intensified across the state as part of efforts to maintain peace,” he said.
The Police Boss urged residents to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, urged them to report any emergencies or suspicious activities to the police and contact the Plateau State Police Command through the following emergency lines: 07059473022, 08038907662, 08075391844.
During the meeting, leaders of the Islamic Movement assured the police commissioner that their members would not stage any procession or protest after their prayers.
They explained that their members will return to their various homes after Jumma’at to continue with their religious activities peacefully.
