Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have recovered rustled livestock in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, after it repelled a suspected attack by Lakurawa terrorists.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama who posted the development via his X handle, said the incident occurred at about 10:00 a.m. on March 19, when troops of 1 Battalion, in collaboration with forest rangers, came under a probing attack at Kumchi Baba village.
Security sources said the troops responded swiftly with the reinforcements from Kangiwa and the battalion headquarters subsequently carried out clearance operations in Tukoyi and Goru villages along the border area forcing the attackers to abandon their mission and flee towards the Niger Republic border.
According to him, during the operation, one suspected terrorist was apprehended, while 47 rustled goats were recovered.
The security expert said the suspect and the recovered livestock are currently in the custody of troops for further action, while operations are ongoing to deny criminal elements freedom of action in border communities.
