NewsNigeriaPolitics2027: Sule Endorses Wadada as Successor

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has publicly endorsed Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship race.

The declaration was made during a meeting with political appointees and agency heads at the Government House in Lafia, according to a statement by his media aide, Ali Abare.

Sule said the choice followed over a year of consultations across the state and beyond, involving investors, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, and party stakeholders.

“We have to look for people who have the capacity to be able to win this election,” Sule said.

He explained that three strong contenders emerged from the process before Wadada was selected after further consultations.

The governor praised aspirants from Nasarawa West for agreeing to support whoever emerged and for proposing a balanced sharing of elective positions.

Calling for party unity, Sule urged his appointees to rally behind the decision under his administration’s “Muje Maha” philosophy.

“Now all the support — now all of us, if we are sincere about the so-called Muje Maha, now it is the period that Muje Maha is Wadada,” he said.

He warned against division or mockery of unsuccessful aspirants, stressing that the selection process was thorough and fair.

On national politics, Sule expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the state in 2027, noting growing support.

Meanwhile, Isa Nathaniel, Chairman of the IGP Adamu Campaign Committee on Counter and Mobilisation, said the endorsement was expected, adding that the party had earlier agreed on direct primaries.

“It was agreed that whoever has anything to offer… is free to contest elections. So it’s open,” he said.
