The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has denied reports that its party structure has collapsed into the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), labelling the claims as complete falsehoods orchestrated by political impostors.
The state leadership cleared the air yesterday during a press briefing held at the party’s secretariat along the Maiduguri Bypass in Bauchi.
Addressing journalists, the Bauchi PDP Legal Adviser, Yahaya Garkuwa Esq, maintained that the party remains intact, stable, and fully focused on the 2027 general elections.
Garkuwa clarified that the only legally recognized structure of the party in Bauchi State is the faction led by Honorable Ibrahim Kashim Toro, which aligns with the national leadership under Honorable Abdulrahman Mohammed.
According to the Legal Adviser, the internal leadership dispute has already been definitively settled by the judiciary.
He explained that a Federal High Court decision initially validated the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led national caretaker committee.
“This ruling was subsequently upheld by the Court of Appeal following a challenge by a rival faction led by Tanimu Turaki. The matter ultimately reached the Supreme Court, which ruled in our favor.”
“The apex court declared that the Tanimu Turaki faction is not recognized by law, cementing the legitimacy of the Mohammed-led national executive and the Ibrahim-led leadership in Bauchi State,” he said.
Garkuwa argued that the defeated faction has turned to disinformation after exhausting all legal channels.
He stated that because they no longer have legal standing, members of the rival group are now impersonating party officials and creating public confusion by claiming the PDP has merged with the APM.
Reassuring party members and the public, Garkuwa emphasized that the authentic leadership and members of the PDP haven’t decamped to any other political platform.
To back his claim, he pointed out that only candidates from his faction have been officially published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the upcoming 2027 elections.
He challenged the opposing faction to produce their own list of verified candidates.
“The Bauchi PDP is currently finalising plans to initiate legal proceedings against individuals who continue to falsely parade themselves as party executives” he stated.
