AgricultureNewsAdamawa State Govt To Support 10,000 Dry Season Farmers

As a measure to tackle youth restiveness, the Adamawa state government has pledged to support about ten thousand farmers for active participation in this year’s dry season farming to enhance food security in the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed this when Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leaders from 21 local governments in the state visited him in the Government House, Yola.
“Government has made this decision having observed that farm yield from this year`s farming rainy season was not up to expectations hence the need to support farmers to go into dry season farming.
“This administration will continue to create viable opportunities for youths and give them a sense of belonging through empowerment initiatives and skill acquisition programs.
 “Relevant ministries have been mandated to earmark arable land in the local governments for allocation to the youths in addition to supporting them to venture into agro-business”. He added.
The Governor cautioned youths in Adamawa against replicating negative acts of those in other states as the state is grappling with development challenges.
Fintiri tasked the youth leaders to sensitize other youths on the gains of peaceful coexistence and embracing government empowerment programs designed for their benefits.
Earlier in his remark, the spokesman of the delegation Abdurrahman Abubakar Musa who is also the PDP youth leader, Yola North local government saluted Governor Fintiri for fulfilling his campaign promises in less than two years in office.
“As youth leaders, we will complement the government for peace and stability in our respective local government areas”. He added.
