The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has identified two suspected cases of Ebola disease in the North-East region.
The agency disclosed that both individuals had been isolated, while contact identification and listing were ongoing and laboratory tests were being conducted.
Daily Trust reports that in an update Saturday, the NCDC cautioned against treating the suspected cases as confirmed infections, noting that confirmation would depend on laboratory results.
“Being classified as suspected cases does not mean they are confirmed Ebola cases; confirmation is subject to laboratory results,” the Agency explained.
The NCDC urged Nigerians to maintain good hand hygiene, practise proper sanitation and adhere to guidance from public health authorities.
It added that further updates would be provided as verified information became available.
