The Pediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN) has conferred with an award as a champion of pneumonia in the state.
Presenting the award at the Government House Yola, the zonal Coordinator of Pediatric Association of Nigeria, Dr Iliya Jalo said the award was based on the shown by the first lady on children and health care in the state.
“The 12th November annually marks as World Pneumonia day, the association always advocate for children to be immunize as pneumonia is one of the child killer diseases.
“One hundred and forty children (140) died annually in Nigeria as a result of pneumonia hence the need for advocacy. He said
Jalo said Pneumonia is preventable and can be treated, called on parents especially mothers to take good care of their babies during pregnancy and after given birth.
Earlier, in a remark the team leader Pediatric Association of Nigeria Adamawa State Chapter Dr Solomon Bulus, said the association seek to collaborate with her office in carrying out activities marking the day.
He commended the Adamawa state government for providing state of the art equipment to new born babies in the state hospital.
Responding, wife of the Governor Hajiya Lami Fintiri commended the Association for finding her worthy of the recognition and pledged to support the association.
