The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, today in pursuant to section 121 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended presented the sum of one hundred and sixty-nine billion, eight hundred and forty-five million, seven hundred and fifty-eight thousand, five hundred naira only(N169, 845, 758, 500=) as 2021 budget to the state House of Assembly.

Presenting the budget tagged Budget of Recovery and Continued Growth on Wednesday at the floor of the Enugu State House of Assembly Complex, Ugwuanyi revealed the 2021 total budget size is thirteen percent higher than the revised 2020 budget of one hundred and forty-six billion, three hundred and seventy four million, six hundred and forty-one thousand, eighty naira only (N146, 374, 641, 080.00).

40% of the 2021 total budget size is earmarked for the recurrent expenditure, 60% is for the capital expenditure; 68.71billion for recurrent expenditure and 101.1billion for capital.

Landmark projects captured in the 2021 budget include the rehabilitation of the 9^th Mile Water Scheme, completion of the International Conference Center, Construction of flyover at Ogui Road and T-junction by Nike lake Resort Center, Nike Road, Abakpa Nike Enugu; completion of ESUTH Teaching Hospital, Igboano, Construction of Station Road Subway road amongst others.

“I will not fail to thank the Speaker, Edward Ubosi and all members of the State House of Assembly for their continued support in achieving this government’s agenda; the speedy passage of the 2020 budget.” Ugwuanyi said.

In his response, the Speaker of the House, Edward Ubosi commended the Governor for the human and infrastructural developments in the state.

“Be assured your Excellency that we will consider this budget proposal and expedite necessary action,” Ubosi promised.
