The 2021 Feed and Read programme was launched in Adamawa with Deputy Governor of the state Chief Crowther Seth restated state government commitment to giving quality education to children in Adamawa.

The Feed and Read programme was launched by the American University of Nigeria Yola, in early 2015, and sponsored by Friends of Nigeria and Atiku Abubakar Institute for Development, supported by the Adamawa State government and some individuals.

Represented by the Director-General Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, Government House Yola, Mark Balanso, the deputy Governor said Fintiri’s led government is determined to reposition the education system in the state as a foundation for a productive society.

“I commend the University for initiating the feed and read programme targeting the Almajiri’s, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), boys and girl child under the scheme.

“The launch of the 2021 feed and read programme is a new dawn in the lives of the beneficiaries, emphasizing that no society can develop without giving quality education to children” he said.

Speaking, the patron of the feed and read programme Malama Sa’adatu Ladi Abubakar noted that the benefitting children are taught English and mathematics among other key subjects.

“The initiative will impact positively on the lives of the children”, she said.

The event featured the presentation of gifts to the deputy Governor, while the students were presented with the identity cards and school bags.
