ENUGU — The Enugu State Football Association (ENSFA) under-13 football tournament named after late ENSFA Chairman Chidi Ofo-Okenwa has been scheduled to kick off on March 27.
Francis Ugwu, the ENSFA Secretary, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday all arrangements had been concluded for a hitch-free event.
Ugwu said the tournament would have started before now but was delayed due to some logistics on the part of the event’s co-sponsors.
“This tournament is called ‘Chidi Ofo-Okenwa Under-13 Football Tournament’ and we are planning to make it an annual event.
”This is the maiden edition and 14 clubs have registered to take part in the tournament,” he said.
Ugwu listed the clubs to include Young Stars FC, Dynamos FC, Emirate FC, Golden Stars FC, Living Stars FC, Asata FC, and Odera Youths FC.
Others are Emene United, Golden United, Lionnaires FC, Black Stars FC, ND Academy FC, Paragon FC, and J.Love FC.
NAN reports that the late Ofo-Okenwa died on May 5, 2020, after a brief illness.
Before his death, he was the Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL), and also a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee.
