Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has identified funding as the major challenge in addressing the problems in the education sector in the state after years of insurgency and neglect.
Buni, stated this on Friday while appreciating friends, colleagues and well-wishers for donating generously on Thursday at the launching of the Yobe State Education Trust Fund.
In a statement by his spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, the Governor noted that the donations will contribute to improving the standard of education and a prosperous future for the state, assuring that the resources would be judicious used for the purposes intended to advance education in the state.
The statement read in part: “Your presence and generous donations have rekindled a new and stronger hope of brotherhood and unity.
“The moral and financial support received from friends, colleagues and well-wishers across the country gives us a sense of belonging.
“This act of kindness is a clear indication that the government and people of Yobe state were not left on their own to face their problems alone”.
