The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) said it has sealed 358 illegal premises in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) between Monday and Thursday this week.
Pharmacist Ibrahim Babashehu Ahmed, Registrar of the Council who disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen in Abuja said 90 pharmacies and 268 patent medicine shops were sealed out of a total of 584 premises visited during the enforcement exercise.
Ahmed added that four patent medicine vendors were arrested, stressing that “Three of them were arrested for breaking the PCN seals and one for displaying fake patent medicines vendor license in his shop.
“They were sealed for various offenses such as operating without registration with the PCN, failure to renew premises license, dispensing ethical products without the supervision of a pharmacist, poor storage and sanitary conditions, among others; while five pharmacies and patent medicine shops were issued compliance directives,” he said.
