To ensure cleanliness of the environment in Sabon Gari area of Fagge local government area of Kano state, troops of the 3 Brigade Nigerian Army led by the commander Brigadier General Sinyinah Nicodemus have cleared out refuse from drainages at Igbo Road.
The gesture is to mark the Army Day celebrations and was part of the corporate social responsibility of the Nigerian Army to their host communities.
The troops of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army who were agile started the refuse evacuation some few minutes after 6 am.
Brig. Gen. Siniyah Nicodemus, while speaking during the event said the gesture would send a signal to the people of that particular area so that they keep to their responsibility by keeping their community clean and safe.
“The 3 Brigade has chosen the area to conduct the refuse evacuation because of the large tonnes of refuse that was been dumped in the area, which is hazardous to the health of the people.
“We are doing this for the people of this area as part of our social corporate responsibility, we started celebrating the Army day with jumu’at prayers, and today 2nd July is the day we are celebrating the Army day, this activity is to mark this year’s celebrations.
Brig. Gen. Nicodemus appealed to the general populace to live to their responsibility by keeping their environment clean, with the aim of improving the health status of the people.
Some residents of Sabon gari community, appreciated the commitment of the Nigerian Army for the gesture, stressing that the activity would play a significant impact on the improvement of human health, and will curtail the spread of communicable diseases.
