NewsPowerProtect Electricity Installations Against Vandalism-EEDC to Customers

ENUGU — Following the industrial action embarked on by electricity workers on Wednesday, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, calls on her esteemed customers and Neighborhood Associations to be vigilant and protect all electrical installations within their environment.

Emphasizing the need for collective safeguarding of the installations, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, Head of Corporate Communication, EEDC, revealed that based on past experience, unscrupulous persons might take advantage of electricity outages to vandalize electricity installations.

Ezeh stated, “Following the industrial strike action embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) power stations, operations across the franchise area of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) have been disrupted.”

“As a result of this development, all our feeders are out of supply and this has affected supply to our esteemed customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.”

He further reveals that due consultations among critical stakeholders in the power sector are ongoing to address the strike, power outage, and possible restoration of supply.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has stated that they are currently dialoguing with organized labour in order to proffer solutions to various issues raised by the electricity workers that led to the strike.
