The Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has commissioned the production facility of Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. located in Trans Ekulu, Enugu East Local Government Area Enugu.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mbah described the industry as a step towards strengthening Nigeria’s pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity and improving access to essential medicines.
Commending Admiral Alison Madueke (Rtd.) GCON, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and his team at Anchorage Pharmaceutical Industries Limited for the investment in the sector, Gov. Mbah said the facility represents more than a pharmaceutical business but is an investment in public health, economic growth and the future of young people in the state.
Mbah further disclosed his administration’s intention to explore commercial partnerships with the company in the supply of medicines to its central medical stores and primary healthcare facilities.
The Enugu State Governor also reiterated that private capital is central to the state’s economic growth strategy even as there is need to retain skilled young people by creating job opportunities for them to build their careers in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman Board of Directors, API Limited, Admiral Alison Madueke said the company is a practical expression of his longstanding conviction that private enterprise creates job, broaden economic opportunities and prosperity for the people.
Admiral Alison Madueke, who is a former Chief of the Naval Staff and military governor of old Anambra and Imo States said the company will prioritize product quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance and sound corporate governance.
In a closing remark, the Managing Director of the company, Engr. Chima Madueke, said the company’s mandate centres on quality and wellness as encapsulated in its slogan ‘Anchored in Quality, Committed to Wellness’.
Engr. Maduekwe revealed that the company has obtained the necessary approvals and clearances from National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN); “We are committed to quality and will help tackle fake and substandard medicines in Nigeria.”
Anchorage pharmaceutical Industries limited is an indigenous company of Nigeria that deals in the manufacture and supply of finished pharmaceutical products to hospitals, community pharmacies, health organizations, drug distribution centers and other health institutions.
The industry’s production facility is located at no. 1 Anchorage Rd, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, Enugu East LGA, Enugu.
