Ekene Enefe, contact mobilisation for the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that the opposition parties hired Russian and Israeli hackers to manipulate the results of last Saturday’s presidential election.
Enefe made the weighty accusation, which he claimed was an ‘intelligent report’, in an interview with ARISE TV on Friday.
He said the attacks though unsuccessful were aimed at compromising the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) server to produce election results which are only favourable to their parties against the actual will of the voters.
“Each party has a situation room. They know the result and they knew they were losing and they want to cling on something and what they want to cling on was the transmission of the result from the portal,” he said.
“People don’t know how many times INEC’s server was hacked and attacked and these were done by political parties that brought in Russian and Israeli hackers to hack into INEC’s server and to transmit their own results and create chaos.”
He added, “None of them succeeded. That was why the election (sic) to the best of my knowledge was not transmitted online.”
