The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Eti-Osa federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Olubankole Wellington, has broken his silence since losing the election.

Banky W, as he is popularly known, lost the seat, contested on February 25, to Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP).

Attah polled 24,075 votes to beat Banky W who had 18,666 votes.

In a video that he shared of himself speaking during a church service on Instagram, Banky W said he was disappointed at his defeat at the polls.

The singer shared how he had made extensive plans in anticipation of his victory, including plans for a Sunday thanksgiving programme, and searching for a flat and office in Abuja.

In the message titled ‘Faith after a Fall’, Banky W said the defeat will, however, not stop him from praising God, adding that he would still hold the previously scheduled thanksgiving service.

He encouraged the congregation to be prepared and know that sometimes their journey in Christianity can demand ‘sacrifice, pain, confusion or frustration.’

“God said is it only faith when you win? Because the truth is, your faith in God does not stop you from hurting. But it helps you heal and it helps you deal,” he said.

He added, “Your faith in God is not just about when everything is rosy or a walk in the park.”

This is the second time the musician-turned-politician is losing his bid to represent the Eti-Osa constituency at the lower house.

In 2019, he contested under the platform of the Modern Democracy Party (MDP) but lost to Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
