Supporters of the Labour Party’s candidate in the presidential election, Peter Obi, have threatened to shut down their accounts with the United Bank for Africa (UBA) following the President-elect Bola Tinubu’s visit to Tony Elumelu, the chairman of UBA.
Elumelu disclosed on Wednesday that he hosted Tinubu at his residence on Tuesday night.
The businessman shared videos and photos of the visit on his Instagram page.
In the video, Elumelu, excited to host the President-elect, hugged Tinubu fondly while hailing him. “Last man standing,” Elumelu was heard saying.
He captioned the photos of himself and the President-elect, “Last night, I was honoured to receive the Nigerian President-elect @officialasiwajubat at my home.
“We discussed ways in which the incoming administration must empower and support our immensely talented Nigerian youth. We have so much young potential to unleash!”
The visit, however, seemed to have angered Obi’s supporters, popularly known as Obidients, because of the outcome of the February 25 presidential polls which favoured Tinubu with Obi in third place.
Below are some comments gathered on the post:
@Kalushaa63856498: Elumelu, I am going to close my UBA account first thing tomorrow morning.
@EzobaJames: I just closed my UBA account and transferred all my money to my second account.
@Adebayo_Adw: Lemme kuku go and close my UBA account. Fraternise with an established drug dealer? I don’t stand for such values.
@Okwuego5: It’s time I shut down my account with UBA.
@lincolnbillz00: You’ve just lost another customer in your bank.
