….Donates N5million to traders of Akere auto spare parts market
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor has visited the scene of the train accident in Ikeja area of Lagos State.
He commiserated with the victims, even as he tasked the state government on the need to provide barriers at roads leading to rail lines to prevent accidents.
While expressing sadness over the accident which he said was avoidable, Jandor said, “The incident is so sad. I think it’s about time we began to have barriers that would stop vehicles when trains are coming.
“This is the responsibility of the government. We cannot continue like this, there should be a barrier on the rail line, when trains are coming.
He added, “I am sure we are going to get it right, I will be going to the hospital to see the victims so that we know how to provide succuor to them.
“We will get it right as a government. We should prevent vehicles from passing, when trains are coming,” he said.
Not fewer than two staff of Lagos State Government were reported killed and many others sustained varying degrees of injuries when a staff bus and a commercial train had head-on collision along Agege motor road in Lagos State.
The accident was said to have occurred on Thursday morning around PWD bus stop when the bus was about to cross the rail track when it collided with the train at the location.
Meanwhile the PDP governorship candidate visited traders of Akere Auto spare parts market located in Kirikiri road, Ajeromi/Ifelodun local government area of Lagos State.
The traders lamented the loss of destruction of their business premises by hoodlums suspected to be sponsored by politicians in the early hours i\of Wednesday.
Jandor who gave financial support of N5 million to the traders, frowned at the activity of some people, especially the state government that doesn’t appreciate the contribution of the Igbo traders to the economy of Lagos State.
He said, “It’s unfortunate that some people would put themselves together and take away the means of livelihood of other people. It’s so ungodly and this has been going on for so long because the government of the day is protecting them.
“The battle that is before us is not just to go out and cast our votes, it’s also a spiritual war, we will call on God to come and prevail. I can tell you for free that this is not an accident, this is a coordinated attack. Nobody can tell me that this is just a mere coincidence, no it is not. This is a coordinated attack and we know those who are behind it.
He added, “By the time I assume office as the Governor of Lagos State we will bring these people to justice. All of them would be brought to book and I would parade them.
“I can say that all the wealth that we have in Lagos State today are contributed by Igbo people in Alaba, Aspanda, Trade Fair, including Ladipo Market.
“If you have people that have brought prosperity into your house, it is commonsensical that the ideal thing to do is to protect them.
“The people that are harassing you in all your markets are not from here. So, Jandor is a Lagosian of the first class. We are going to protect everybody irrespective of where you are from.
“What I want us to do is to create a WhatsApp platform containing everybody who has a shop here. If anybody says anything between now and tomorrow it might not happen. By the time we get into office, I will make sure nobody here loses his or her shop. We will rebuild them and return them to the owners without collecting any money.
“As we speak, I want to support you with N5Million. This is not just a promise, the money will enter into your account before I leave here today,” he added.
