NewsNigeriaPoliticsTinubu is having a ‘working rest’ in Europe, there will be ‘no dulling’ once he returns – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, says the President-elect, Bola Tinubu will swing into action immediately after he returns from Europe.

Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of the party, said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday.

The West African Pilot News had reported that Tinubu left the country three days after the 2023 general election with his spokesperson, Tunde Rahman saying that the President-elect travelled to Paris “to rest and plan his transition programme ahead of May 29, 2023 inauguration.”

Morka, during his interview, reiterated Rahman’s words. He said his principal “decided to take a moment of rest” after a hectic electioneering period, adding that he will return to the country soon ahead of his inauguration.

“He is probably in Europe. He’s fine. After the elections and all of the energy expended, he just decided to take a moment of rest,” Morka said.

“Once he returns and is inaugurated on May 29, there will be no dulling. He’ll be saddled with the responsibility of running a country as massive and complex as Nigeria. I know he’ll be back in the country very shortly.”

Morka further said that the President-elect is not just resting but also working in preparation for the job ahead.

He said, “It is working rest because even in his rest, he is also taking the time to reach out to heads of government and other levels of leadership of other countries that are vital to the agenda that he is bringing in his new government.

“So, he is not sleeping in his bed; he is also in meetings regularly with all kinds of people who are travelling from other countries to see him preparatory to his inauguration. So, it is a working visit.”

Controversies have continued to trail Tinubu’s absence. While his critics say he is being treated for an undisclosed ailment, his supporters and henchmen say he is on a break.

Meanwhile, no photo of the President-elect has been made public since his post-electoral victory and subsequent departure from the country.
