For almost two months after suspending activities of NGOs in Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria devastated by insurgency, the Adamawa State government has finally lifted the ban.
Recall that shortly after February 25, 2023 presidential election, Governor Fintiri in a state broadcast, said the decision to suspend activities of NGOs was based on intelligence information that many NGOs were dabbling into politics hiding under the guise of providing humanitarian assistance to citizens.
In a statement on Monday by the Press Secretary to the Governor Humwashi Wonosikou urged NGOs to resume their humanitarian activities according to the rules of engagement in order to deliver on their mandate.
The statement said Governor Fintiri appreciates their cooperation which has contributed to the successful conduct of the elections.
