LifestyleNewsNigeriaChef Dammy vows a comeback: plans to cook for another 150hrs to break world record

“I, Adeparusi Damilola, popularly known as Chef Dammy, and my team have decided to hold another cook-a-thon programme next month. “This time, it will be held for 150 hours, and it will be duly registered with the Guinness World Records.”

Damilola Adeparusi, a student of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, FUOYE, that has come to be known as Chef Dammy, has said that she is planning a new cook-a-thon that would last for 150 hours.

This is coming three days after she completed a 120-hour cooking marathon which was plagued with controversy and criticisms.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the 300-level Mass Communication student, while granting an interview, said the next cooking marathon will hold in July.

She said next month’s kitchen stint will be aimed at breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Adeparusi said, “After the support I have received from fans, well-wishers, and many highly notable individuals in the society. I, Adeparusi Damilola, popularly known as Chef Dammy, and my team have decided to hold another cook-a-thon programme next month.

“This time, it will be held for 150 hours, and it will be duly registered with the Guinness World Records. Chef Dammy is coming back!”

Earlier, in an interview with BBC News Yoruba, Adeparusi said her 120-hour cooking marathon was neither to become a Guinness World Record holder nor to compete with Hilda Baci who was recently verified as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

She said that contrary to speculations, she embarked on the 120-hour cook-a-thon because cooking “makes me happy.”

“About the Guinness World Records or competing with Hilda Baci, I did the cook-a-thon for fun. Cooking is what I enjoy. It is what makes me happy,” she said.

“Guinness World Records was never in my plan or something. I didn’t do the 120-hour cook-a-thon for the Guinness World Record to know me. I did it for those who would love to watch me cook in the kitchen.”
