Kano State Videos and Film Censorship Board has invalidated the licenses of all Kannywood practitioners in the state.
The censorship board is a regulatory body of the Hausa film-making industry in the state.
Abba Al-Mustapha, Director of the board announced on Friday stated that the move became necessary to put the system on track of the rebranding processes of the industry.
“We have canceled all licenses of all guilds in the industry for proper documentation as well as to be able to have an effective plan that will positively project, protect and promote the industry,” he said.
Al-Mustapha said there ought to be proper documentation of members of the industry to enable the board to work in the promotion and protection of the film-making business.
