Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee has discharged 223 out of 461 inmates including women awaiting trial at Yolde Pate New Medium Security Custodial Centre in Yola South local government area.
In the same vein, the committee discharged 26 convicted inmates out of 178 serving various jail terms at the correctional center and admitted 52 to bail.
Addressing those discharged, the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman who headed the committee warned them not to commit any offense that would bring them back to the correctional center.
Justice Hapsat advised them to be on good behavior in society, stressing that the court would not be lenient to any one of them re-arrested for any offense.
In his remark, Adamawa State Controller of Correctional Centre Ahmed Abdu Usman commended the committee for a job well done and congratulated those discharged.
Most of the offenses are criminal breach of trust, and cheating among others, and the committee reviewed sentences of the convicted inmates sentenced between 3 to 10 years.
Meanwhile, the committee has convicted and sentenced 2 inmates to 5 years imprisonment each after confessing to the crime they were remanded for.
