NewsNigeriaPoliticsRivers State House of Assembly set ablaze

An unexpected fire engulfed the State legislature complex in Rivers State on Sunday night.

Hoodlums, suspected to be politically sponsored, reportedly broke into the building and set it on fire using Improvised Explosive Devices [IED] at about 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Only the chamber of the assembly was affected as the swift intervention of the emergency response team stopped the inferno from razing the entire building. A lot of property was destroyed.

The Sunday night explosion has raised concerns over the move of the lawmakers to impeach the State governor, Siminalayi Fubara over the mounting rift between him and the immediate past governor Nyesom Wike who is now the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister.
