…Says ideals that attracted him in 1998 have receded
Senator Chukwuka Utazi has dumped the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP chieftain in Enugu State, and a two terms Senator on the platform of the party resigned his membership of the PDP effective from Monday.
In a resignation letter addressed to Chief Rob Ezeagu, the chairman of PDP in his Nkpologu ward, Uzo Uwani Local Government Area (LGA), the senator, who was in the 8th and 9th Senate between 2015-2023 said he is leaving the party because the ideals that attracted him to the party in 1998 “have since receded into oblivion.”
Utazi, who didn’t disclose his next political move, said he will “find another party that will afford him ample opportunity to operate maximally and contribute to national development.”
The letter reads:
Resignation of Membership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP
“It is with reservation that I resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party which I had the privilege of being a founding member of the party at its inception in 1998. Reason being that those ideals that attracted me to the party have since receded into oblivion leaving me with no option than to leave and find another party that will afford me with ample opportunity to operate maximally and contribute to national development.
“I am therefore wishing you all well as you continue to work hard to eke out a living in the best way possible under the present circumstances,
“Thanks for your understanding and cooperation so far,” he stated.
