Reports have emerged that Enitan Subair, a sophomore student of Obafemi Awolowo University studying Linguistics and African Languages, was hospitalised briefly after washing non-stop for over 50 hours.
Subair set out to set a new Guinness world record for the longest hand washing by an individual on Friday, 24 November, within the university premises.
Her initial plan was to wash for 50 hours, but after it clocked 50 hours, she, filled with renewed vigour and determination, continued until 58 hours and 28 minutes amid cheers from family, friends and colleagues.

At the end of the washing marathon in the wee hours of Monday, she was rushed to the school’s clinic.
A video that has gone viral on social media shows Enitan, with pale palms and fingers, lying in a hospital bed surrounded by friends.

Despite the after-effect of her undertaking, she is excited at the prospect of becoming a Guinness World Record holder.
“I am very fulfilled to have completed the task right in front of my mom, friends and colleagues who thronged this venue to show love and support my ambition,” she said.
The Guinness World Records is yet to confirm Enitan’s record-breaking attempt.
