Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is proposing to spend N800,392,485,433.01 for the 2024 fiscal year.
Governor Fubara presented the budget proposal to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
The Governor dubbed the budget, ‘Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation and Continuity.’
Present at the presentation were the House of Assembly Speaker Edison Ehie and four other lawmakers only as the 27 legislators who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday boycotted the session.

The lawmakers are said to be henchmen of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and immediate governor of the State, Nyesom Wike.
At Wednesday’s proceedings, Speaker Edison declared the seats of the 27 absentees vacant.
The presentation of the budget proposal to the Edison Ehie-led group took place at a hall in the Government House, due to the demolition of the state assembly complex which began on Wednesday morning.
The State Government said the legislature complex is being demolished to be renovated after the building was gutted by fire about two months ago.
“In the interim, the Rivers State Government has provided an alternative venue for the House of Assembly to conduct their affairs pending the rebuilding of the complex,” the government said in a statement.
