The Batta Traditional Council in Adamawa has conferred the traditional title of “Rutu Batta” on the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta alongside 28 other sons, daughters, and friends of Batta Chiefdom.

The paramount ruler while performing the coronation at his palace in Demsa, Hama Batta, Homun Alhamdu Gladstone said it was a deliberate attempt to confer the traditional titles on both young and old to cement the relationship, mutual trust, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among family and friends of Batta Chiefdom.

Homun Teneke stated that those conferred with the titles are in recognition of their contributions to the peace and development of the Kingdom and to also preserve the cultural heritage of the Batta people.

He charged them to remain good ambassadors of Batta chiefdom, reminding them that their recognition is a call to service.
The paramount ruler acknowledged the effort and contributions of Governor Fintiri to peaceful coexistence and development of Batta land and challenged the youths to hold onto the culture of being diligent, honest, accountable, and respectful towards elders.

In his message, Governor Umaru Fintiri commended traditional rulers for ensuring peace reigns in their domain and urged people of the domain to embrace dry season farming to fight food insecurity in the state.
Represented by his Deputy who doubles as “Rutu Batta”, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, the Governor whose son was also conferred with the title of ” Kurmo Batta “, meaning the shield of Batta Kingdom, said that government will continue to propel Adamawa to greatness through its people’s oriented policies and programmes.

He appealed to farmers to guard against unnecessary sales of farm produce and called on the celebrants to reciprocate the gesture by promoting peace, unity, and development of Batta Kingdom, Adamawa, and Nigeria in general.

The Governor explained that the government will keep investing in key sectors such as education, health, and Agriculture among other spheres of human endeavour.
