EducationNewsNigeriaAdamawa Commences Construction of N14.9 Billion Model Schools

The Adamawa state government is to construct new model nurseries, and primary and junior secondary schools in each of the 21 local government areas of the State.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed in Girei on Thursday, at the groundbreaking ceremony said the projects which will be funded by the state and local governments in the state will cost N14.9 billion.

According to the Governor, the model schools will encourage school enrollment and warn that any parents and guardians who deny their children access to education will be prosecuted.

Fintiri assured that his administration will continue to ensure equitable distribution of development, and added that the projects will make local governments proactive towards serving the people.

He said his administration will continue to execute people’s oriented projects, calling on students to take advantage of about two hundred international science scholarship slots that will be offered by the government.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Yayaji Mininyawa, said the schools will serve as a significant milestone in the journey to providing quality education.

He said the model schools will be equipped with modern technology and stimulating learning facilities that will serve as beacons of excellence and called on the people in the state to support this drive.

On his part, the State Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella said construction of the schools would address the menace of out-of-school children and other vices in Adamawa and Nigeria.

In a remark, the State Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Abdussalam Gidado who doubles as Chairman of Song Local Government Council appreciates Governor Fintiri’s support in making the project a reality.

There were goodwill messages from the Chairman of Girei Local Council, Juda Amisa, the District Head of Girei, Dr Ahmed Mustafa Ibrahim, and the state legislator representing the area, Abubakar Abdullahi.
