Ajuri Ngalale, President Bola Tinubu’s official spokesperson and his special adviser on media and publicity, has assured Nigerians that Tinubu is working round the clock to improve their lots.
Tinubu extended the reign of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, with his election victory in February 2023 after promising to improve the livelihoods of the country’s more than 200 million people.
He has implemented a series of wide-ranging reforms aimed at revitalising growth in Nigeria since taking office in May 2023.
But the reforms, including scrapping a petrol subsidy have not had the intended effects. They instead pushed up the price of fuel, food items, goods and cost of transportation, and weakened the naira.
Amid the escalating challenges, Ngalale wants Nigerians who are already frustrated with the Tinubu’s administration to “hang in there.” He says he can “see an end” to the misery of Nigerians.
The presidential spokesman emphasised Tinubu’s tireless efforts to put an end to the economic crisis, saying, “He [Tinubu] wakes up at 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. every morning including Sundays. Opening his files, working into the late nights when no one is there to say anything good or bad about him.”
“He is doing the work. He is a workaholic, and he is doing it all to build a country that is reflective of a progressive and advanced country that he has envisioned, the way he did in Lagos.”
Ngalale added, “I’m working with a man who I can personally vouch for because he’s going to bed at 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. every night, including Sundays. I’m asking Nigerians to support the President, he means well.”
