Torrential winds and heavy rainfall hit Houston, Texas, United States on Monday morning, causing widespread destruction and loss of lives.
The strong storm, known as Hurricane Beryl, reached the Texas coast after travelling over the ocean, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall with it of up to 130 kilometres per hour, causing widespread destruction and chaos in its wake.
According to reports, at least four people have lost their lives as a result of the storm, with many more injured. The heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding in many areas, with homes and businesses submerged in water. The flooding has also made many roads impassable, leaving many residents stranded.
The Texas power grid has also been affected, leaving over two million homes left without electricity. The government has urged residents to stay indoors and avoid any dangerous areas until the storm is over.
Emergency services are working tirelessly to rescue those trapped by the floodwaters, and to provide aid to those affected by the storm. The government has also set up shelters for those who have been displaced by the storm.
