Hon Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications has described the victory of the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo at the Supreme Court as an affirmation of the choice of the people of Kogi State at the November 11, 2023 Governorship Elections.
He stated this in Lokoja during a chat with journalists, stressing that the Supreme Court affirming Ododo as the duly elected Governor was in line with the laws and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act.
The Commissioner congratulated Usman Ododo and the citizens of the state on the Supreme Court judgement delivered on 23rd August, 2024, describing it as a confirmation of the wish of the people.
According to Fanwo, the Kogites trooped out en masse on November 11, 2023 to exercise their franchise to select the candidate that would lead the state in the next political dispensation, affirming that Governor Ododo emerged the winner, being the people’s choice.
He stated that His Excellency’s victory at the Apex Court was a testament of the Kogites’ decision during the Governorship Election, adding that the Supreme Court affirming him as the duly elected was in line with the laws and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act, and commended the Supreme Court for upholding the truth.
While congratulating Ododo and the entire people of Kogi State on the victory, Fanwo urged the people to let go of the politics of bigotry and accord their maximum support to Ododo for a better Kogi State.
He said, “I can emphatically say that Governor Ododo’s victory at the Apex Court today is a testament of the Kogites’ decision made on November 11, 2023. The people of the state trooped out en masse to elect their Governor for the next political dispensation. The electorate made the decision which must be respected, upheld and sustained.
“I therefore commend the Tribunal, Appeal Court and the Supreme Court for upholding justice in the nation, especially in the case of Governor Ododo, confirming that the people’s decision cannot be compromised. Emotion and desperation cannot win an election. The people across the state must accept you wholeheartedly.
“The court cases are over. It’s time to join hands, irrespective of our political, religious or tribal differences, to move Kogi State forward. I therefore urge all Kogites to support Governor Ododo for the rapid socio-economic development of Kogi State,” Fanwo stated.
