An inferno that started around 5 am on Saturday destroyed the offices of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, the Chaplain, and of the Chief Imam of Sokoto State Police Command.
The Spokesman of the Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the fire gutted a section of the one-storey administration block of the Command which affected some offices at the Command.
ASP Rufa’i however ruled out any foul play, saying there was nobody in the section when the incident happened.
“Some offices were razed down by the inferno including the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Administration; the confidential office, and that of the Chief Imam of the Command.
“The fire also destroyed our Chaplain and the office of the Chief Superintendent, Administration and property were destroyed but there was no injury or death.
“But investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the fire and the level of damage it caused,” he said.
