Chief Akai Egwuonwu, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stine Industries Ltd, has congratulated the girl child on the occasion of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child. Celebrated all over the world, the International Day of the Girl Child is marked on October 11th to remind people of the need for gender mainstreaming. For this year, the theme is “Girls’ Vision for the Future,” which demands action beyond immediate solutions.

In an exclusive interview with the West African Pilot News, Chief Akai Egwuonwu said that the contributions of women to the growth of the economy are crucial. This he said as he emphasized that women are also critical to every functional society. “All over the world, any society that appreciates and elevates the value their women bring, that society thrives. But any society that puts their women down that society is in trouble. I have been privileged to travel to different parts of the world and know this is a fact. In Igbo land today, one of the most outstanding secrets of our success is how we treat our women,” Chief Egwuonwu said.

According to Akai Egwuonwu who is the man behind Anambra Rice, with diverse business interests in different fields; in many of his industries and businesses, the bulk of the workforce is women. Looking back, he said that over the years, he has come to admit that they are critical in the success of his business interests. “But again, you would notice that Governor Soludo has shown commitment to gender mainstreaming with the number of women appointees in his administration. So, it’s not only in my business. Even in government, those appointed by the governor are excelling and I think the governor should be commended,” Akai concluded.
