I’m very proud of that and I don’t want you to think that I will take you for granted at any given time. I am here to serve it’s all about service and I will do it with all my heart. I seek your cooperation all the time. I seek your understanding, I understand the trouble you’ve been through, the economic problems, it’s just 18 months that I have taken over the reign of his country. The promise is there. We are on the right path, we have stayed focused. We share love with one another. Let us believe in ourselves Tomorrow will bring a new dawn”
On measures to fight corruption, the president said, “Corruption in all ramifications is bad First of all pay attention to the causes. Why are people corrupt? The lack of social amenities, the lack of needs in some areas, lack of funding for their children’s education There are so many anti-corruption mechanisms that you can put in place that will help the people not to be corrupt. Pay them good and living wages. I have moved from N35,000 to N70,000, to me that is ant-corruption. I have given more money to the states and local governments. I have been transparent with my earnings. Every month there are publications as to how much this country is making.”
Speaking further he said, “To stem corruption is part of the instruments of EFCC that is why there is problem, all sorts of inefficiencies in the system. Block all the lope holes where anybody can defraud in the system. Part of anti-corruption is removal of subsidy. It is very difficult to say you will eliminate corruption but you can reduce it to the barest minimum. Help the people to grow. Help them with the education of their children. Our student loan is part of anti-corruption. Encourage parents with their children university education, Today it is working for larger population, 67 percent at the University of Maiduguri.”
