As part of efforts to combat crime in the maritime sector and enhance security in its area of operations, Naval Outpost Onitsha, through its “Food Rhapsody” initiative, has donated food items worth millions of naira to Madonna Angels Orphanage Home in Atani, Ogbaru Council Area, Anambra State
The event, which marked the conclusion of Operation Delta Sanity 3, is a non-kinetic approach by the Nigerian Navy aimed at strengthening civil-military relationship and promote peace and harmony in the host community.
While presenting the items, the Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Onitsha, Navy Captain Musa Jarma, represented by the Executive Officer, Navy Commander Kabiru Yusuf, explained that the initiative was designed to foster goodwill, win the hearts and minds of the locals as well as deepen ties with the host communities.
Commander Yusuf noted that the choice of Madonna Angels Orphanage was deliberate, aimed at ensuring the children feel the spirit of the yuletide season and beyond.
He highlighted that the Outpost had previously organized similar initiatives, including medical outreach and educational programs, all targeted at enhancing community well-being and further assured that the Naval Outpost remains committed to sustaining their efforts in building trust and support within its host communities.
Responding on behalf of the orphanage, the General Manager, Reverend Sister Justina Ughanne, alongside the Manager, Mr. Okwuoyibo Fidelis, expressed deep gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their unwavering support and timely intervention, noting that the gesture reflects the Navy’s commitment to humanitarian services and community development.
The children of the orphanage also joined in appreciating the Navy for the amazing gifts expressing their gratitude through songs, prayers and intercessions for their sacrifices to the nation.
