Sir Paul Chukwuma, a leading aspirant for the Anambra governorship election on November 8, 2025, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress – APC, has said that he is confident of picking the ticket of his party, APC, on April 5th, 2025. Ahead of the Anambra State gubernatorial election, the APC had scheduled its primary election for Saturday, April 5th, 2025. Therefore, in exactly 10 days, the party will be selecting its flag bearer, who will go on to challenge the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Discussing the Anambra State Governorship election and the challenges of governance facing the current Soludo administration, Sir Paul Chukwuma, during his appearance on Television Continental – TCV, on Wednesday, said that he is confident of picking the APC ticket on April 5th and more so, he expressed confidence in winning the incumbent on November 8 general election.
According to Sir Paul Chukwuma, the APC in Anambra today has become a grassroots political party. This development, he said, is due to efforts he spearheaded in alliance with like minds in the party which he said is now bearing good fruits as the party has been positioned to successfully contend power with the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance – APGA, in Anambra State. This grassroots presence of the APC, Chukwuma remarked, has positioned the APC in Anambra State today as the biggest challenger of the ruling APGA. “Yes, APGA is the current ruling party in Anambra State. But come November 8, 2025, that will change. APC, as we speak, is the party to beat in this coming election and we are not just saying it for the sake of saying it,” Chukwuma reiterated. Speaking on how the party was repositioned, Paul Chukwuma said that he and others have taken time in the past three years to invest in the party, not just money, but ideas and values which he said the money comes last in the list of investments made in the party to clean it up.
Mr. Paul Chukwuma also said that so far, he has confidence in the process leading to the APC primaries and expects to emerge victorious based on the desires and support of the party faithful at the grassroots. “I have taken time to get the APC down to the grassroots and politics is about the grassroots,” Paul Chukwuma said.
Reacting to specific governance challenges in Anambra State, Chukwuma said that the problem facing Anambra State is squarely a problem of leadership failure at the sub-national level and has nothing to do with the national government. He berated the incessant kidnapping that has significantly taken the order of the day in Anambra State. He further faulted the Soludo-led APGA government in Anambra State for lack of clarity of vision and dedication to the public good of the people of Anambra State.
