Chief Uzu Okagbue’s wife, Mrs. Amaka Okagbue, has been inducted into the Iyom Agbanze Umunnachi, as Iyom Ugegbe Uzu. The colourful induction on Good Friday was well-attended by close friends, family, and associates of the Okagbues. Uzu Okagbue, a titled Chief and revered Nze in Umunnachi with the title of Ochualili Umuogbenye, is a cultural enthusiast who is particular about the Igbo cultural heritage, especially in his community of Umunnachi.

Commencing the induction process, the patron of Iyom Igbanze Umunnachi, Dr. Oliver Onwughalu, Ichie Ikemba, said that the Iyom Agbanze Umunnachi is a prestigious honour reserved for the very best of the best women, who have distinguished themselves in family and society, who also met the standards required for the investiture.

The induction into the Iyom Agbanze Umunnachi society was also conducted for Mrs. Anayo Stella Umerah, the wife of Dr. Emeka Umerah, a close friend of the Okagbues. Dr. Emeka holds the title of Agada Nnachi and his wife was given the Iyom title of Iyom Ugodiche. Both Dr. Emeka and Dr. Anayo are US-based surgeons. Like Uzu, Emeka is equally fascinated by the Igbo cultural heritage. After the induction at the Okagbue’s residence, the Umerahs returned to their palatial home nearby, to continue the festivities.

Some distinguished guests at the event for the Okagbues include traditional rulers; His Majesty, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha, and His Royal Majesty, Igwe Pharm. Alexander Uzodinma Onyido, Igwe Ogidi. Soon-to-be 91-year-old former Nigeria’s Minister for Health, Dr. Tim Menakaya, and his lovely wife, Mrs. Ogo Tim-Menakaya, were in attendance.  Businessman extraordinaire, Chief Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo, was in attendance to felicitate with the Okagbues. Sir Paul Chukwuma, the YPP Governorship candidate in the November 8 Anambra State Governorship election was represented by Chief Jude Osude. Also, a successful businessman and a close friend of the Okagbues, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu of Stanel fame, was in attendance. Sir Willy Nwokoye, Principal Secretary to former Anambra State Governor, Hon. Chief Amala Anazodo, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Beverley Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, former Whip of Anambra State Assembly and Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Uche Nworah, PhD, former Managing Director of Anambra State Broadcasting Service, Chief Ben Eke, Chief Hillary Udealor, former Executive Chairman of Anambra East LGA, Barr. Titus Akpudo, among many others, were in attendance.

The event, a celebration of cultural heritage and a symbol of women’s traditionally indispensable and memorable place in Igbo society, reflects the exceptional quality of planning and execution Uzu Okagbue is known for.
