Millions of Christians all over the world today, mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a global ceremony known as Easter. The quintessence of Christianity finds expression in the death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection on the third day, for the redemption of mankind from eternal damnation.
Felicitating Christian community across the world, Sir Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressives Party – YPP, in the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, congratulates Christians, particularly, in Nigeria, and more specifically, in Anambra State. Observing the symbolic importance of Easter, Mr. Chukwuma said that “Jesus’ resurrection represents the triumph of light over darkness, resilience over despair, and the promise of a new dawn”. Chukwuma affirmed that because of the sacrifice of Easter, there is hope, urging Ndi Anambra to remain focused on the possibilities that lie ahead, while assuring that his “administration would be marked by bold reforms tailored toward stimulating local enterprise, attract investment, and expand economic opportunities across all strata of society”, Sir Paul Chukwuma said.
On his part, the leading APGA aspirant for the upcoming Anambra South senatorial by-election, Chief Akai Egwuonwu, has also expressed his good wishes to Christians on Easter. According to Egwuonwu in a statement he signed, “The death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ symbolizes the highest demonstration of sacrifice for the good of mankind.” Commenting on how the Easter celebration speaks to service, Egwuonwu said we can never do enough for humanity. “This season also reminds us that we can never do enough for the good of humanity. And so, we draw from this incredible love and sacrifice of Jesus through his death, to remain focused on the call to serve,” Chief Akai Egwuonwu said.
Similarly, Chief Uzuegbuna Okagbue has also emphasized the essence of Jesus’ sacrifice and its implication on service. Okagbue, pointing to the Bible verse that no greater love has a man than laying down his life for his friends, said “Easter teaches us to commit to service with the highest level of dedication. Easter also gives us hope of a future secured through sacrifice and service, for the good of all. Easter speaks to the possibility of good governance anchored on pure service, founded upon sacrifice rooted in genuine love for mankind,” Uzu Okagbue said.
