Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has attributed the reduction in power allocation to a drop in power supply across its licensed area, including Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina states.
Recently, the three states have been experiencing days of power outages.
KEDCO’s spokesman, Sani Bala, clarified the statement on Wednesday, saying the allocation even dropped as low as 150MW.
“We wish to sincerely apologize to our valued customers for the slight drop in power supply currently being experienced across our franchise area.
“As earlier communicated, the reason behind the power shortage is a temporary reduction in our allocation from 300+MW to an average of 167MW due to limitations on the transmission lines,” he said.
Bala noted that this is grossly inadequate to supply all customers, resulting in massive load shedding and rationing across their feeders.
He said the TCN has promised to work tirelessly to restore power to the states soonest.
