The keenly contested by-election for Ganye State Constituency of Adamawa State was conducted peacefully amidst allegations of vote buying and rigging which has been norms in Nigerian politics.
At the end of the game, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Misa Musa Jauro, as the winner of the election.
The returning officer for the election, Prof. Tukur Ahmed, said the APC candidate polled 15,923 votes to defeat his closest rival, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Bare Muhammad Buba Joda, who scored 15,794 votes, a slim margin of 129 votes.
The two political parties closely contested the election, held across 10 wards, which was described as one of the most competitive in recent times, with APC and PDP recording split victories in different wards.
With this outcome, Jauro has been declared duly elected in the poll.
